New crossing over the Lima River strengthens road connections in Viana do Castelo

ACA is building a new crossing over the Lima River, in the municipality of Viana do Castelo — a strategic project that will enhance regional mobility and improve the connection between National Roads 203 (Deocriste) and 202 (Nogueira).
With an approximate length of 1.95 kilometres, the project includes a main structure 816 metres long, supported by 24 rows of pillars. It will be built in pre-stressed reinforced concrete, with indirect foundations, using a top launching beam to position the bridge spans.

The project poses a significant technical challenge, not only due to the scale of the structure but also because of its location over the river. The new crossing will be the fourth bridge over the Lima in the municipality, helping to optimise traffic flows, reduce journey times, and foster the region’s economic and social development.
