Porto Metro: Pink and Ruby Lines enhance metropolitan mobility

ACA is part of the Porto Metro expansion project, with interventions on the Pink and Ruby Lines, two strategic elements for mobility in the Metropolitan Area.

Pink Line (G)

With a total length of 3 km, of which 2.45 km are operational, the Pink Line will run entirely underground on a double track, ensuring the connection between São Bento and the Rotunda da Boavista. The route includes four underground stations — two of them adjacent to the current São Bento and Casa da Música stations — designed to strengthen connections to the existing networks. This intervention will significantly improve access to the central areas of Porto, which have a high concentration of businesses, housing, and health services, promoting the shift from private to public transport.

Ruby Line (H)

With approximately 6.4 km and eight stations, the new Ruby Line will connect Casa da Música in Porto to Santo Ovídio in Vila Nova de Gaia. The project includes the crossing of the River Douro via the 838-metre-long Ferreirinha Bridge. The contract involves underground excavation works, the construction of viaducts, station building, and system installation, requiring meticulous planning and engineering solutions tailored to diverse geotechnical and urban contexts. This expansion will strengthen connectivity between riverbanks, reduce travel times, and expand the coverage of the metropolitan network.
